The Shoreline Project has developed a grading system based upon the time it takes to approach a shoreline or riverbank and find litter or debris.
The Souris River through Minot has received a grade of 0. It takes less than 1 minute to find litter during any season of the year. Lake Sakakawea has received a grade of 3. While many parts are pristine, litter can be found in less than 15 minutes.
The Grading Scale is as follows:
0-3 minutes = 0 - resulting in more than 2 days clean up
4-7 minutes = 1 - resulting in 1 days clean up
8-12 minutes= 2 - resulting in 6 hours clean up
13-17 minutes =3 - resulting in 3 hours clean up
18-24 minutes = 4 - resulting in 1 hour clean up
25 or > = 5 Pristine - resulting in less than 30 mins of clean up
*Grading scale based on litter and trash that is not only surface but embedded as well.
Our goal is to bring all 3 quadrants online by 2027 and take control by 2029.
When contacting please include first name, phone number, location and any pictures or description of magnitude of debris we will be dealing with
